Dr. King was honoured at the Annual Excellence in Research Award Event held on June 13, 2024 at the USask College of Medicine. The award appreciates and recognizes faculty members who have exhibited the highest level of excellence and had a significant impact on research over the past year.
Dr. King was recognized for her leadership, commitment to capacity strengthening, dedication to the health and wellness of Indigenous people, land- and culture-based healing, ethics in Indigenous research, HIV, hepatitis C (HCV) and co-infections, and health system and service transformation. Dr. King was nominated by Dr. Haissam Haddad and Dr. Josh Lawson.
