In September, we gathered in Edmonton for Miyo Wâpan — ‘moving forward in a good way’, a special event led by Pewaseskwan in collaboration with CANTRAIN, RareKids-CAN and PASSERELLE.
Through ceremony, sharing and reflection, we began an important journey forward in our collective work. This gathering also marked the very first meeting of the newly formed Indigenous Community Guiding Circle (ICGC).
The ICGC will provide wisdom, guidance and leadership not only to Pewaseskwan but also to CANTRAIN, RareKids-CAN and PASSERELLE. Their role will be central in shaping how we advance clinical trial access and inclusivity for Indigenous peoples, including children and youth living with rare diseases. They will also help inform training resources for clinicians, researchers and people with lived and living experience.
We are deeply grateful to all who joined us—especially the Elders, Knowledge Holders and community members who grounded our work in ceremony and ensured that we move forward together in a good way.
